The Mikvah in Great Neck began as a project of the Great Neck Synagogue and has developed into a vibrant institution that attracts broad community support. It was built in 1966 when the foundation of what is currently our main synagogue was laid. The process of raising the necessary funds to properly design and construct the Mikvah took three years and in 1971 the Mikvah was incorporated as an independent organization and opened for full time use. It was staffed by volunteers from the community and served the needs of women throughout the North Shore. In 1982 a major fund raising effort was undertaken to renovate the Mikvah and to make it as beautiful as it was functional. In 1985 the newly renovated Mikvah was opened and dedicated in memory of Belle Goldwyn, who together with her husband Solomon S. Goldwyn was a major force in planning and building the original Mikvah. With the explosive growth of women using the Mikvah, the waiting room has been recently renovated so the Mikvah is maintained at the highest standards of halacha and aesthetics. The hours of use of the Mikvah are available on the tape recorded message. Please call (516) 487-2726 for more information. Click here to visit the North Shore Mikvah Page.
