Sisterhood

The Sisterhood is the center of charitable, educational and social activities for the women of Great Neck Synagogue. Our programs strive to unite the diverse women of our community by creating a sense of purpose, involvement and friendship. We run a variety of programs, events and activities providing an opportunity for women to learn and socialize.

The Sisterhood also manages the Sisterhood Mitzvah Fund and the Florence Shaffer Memorial Fund. The Mitzvah Fund is used to provide a new baby gift for new moms, a beautiful siddur gift for each Bar and Bat Mitzvah and a meal during shiva week. This Fund is also used to contribute to Great Neck Synagogue programs throughout the year such as Pass it Forward and Bikur Cholim.

The Florence Shaffer Memorial Fund provides annual need-based scholarships to college women.

The Sisterhood welcomes you to the Synagogue and encourages you to become involved with our many excellent programs. Volunteers are always needed and new ideas welcomed. We invite you to join our meetings to help plan upcoming events. The Sisterhood Gift Shop is located in the lobby of the Synagogue and carries beautiful gifts for all occasions. For more information or to become involved call co-presidents Vivian Kron 516-244-6330 or Judy Lillien 516-487-6845.
