The Great Neck Synagogue Sisterhood is a multifaceted organization whose foremost goal is to raise funds to support the Shul. Sisterhood channels this money to make specific purchases for the synagogue such as new office equipment or additional supplies for the youth program. Sisterhood also sponsors many Shul programs such as the upcoming Chanukah Youth Luncheon on Shabbat December 20th, Yom Haatzmaut celebration, and Simchat Torah books for the children. Sisterhood is also sponsoring the Membership Directory which the Shul will be publishing soon. Members benefit directly from Sisterhood Mitzvah Fund, which is used to purchase new baby gifts, bar and bat mitzvah gifts, welcoming gifts for new members, Shabbat dinners for the sick or elderly and a Shabbat meal during the Shiva period. Sisterhood regularly sponsors exciting and interesting programs throughout the year. They recently held a successful Chanukah Boutique/Family Fun Day at Great Neck Synagogue and on December 16th they are hosting cookbook author Susie Fisbbein for a 3 course cooking (and tasting) demonstration where they will also be selling her recently released cookbook, “Kosher By Design Lightens Up.” On January 13th, they are hosting Dr. Jill Rabin, who is head of Urogynecology and Chief of Ambulatory Care at LIJ. She is a Clinical Associate Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at Albert Einstein Medical School. She will talk about a variety of women’s health issues. Thank you to UJA for providing a generous grant to fund this event. Sisterhood welcomes you to the Synagogue and looks forward to your involvement at our monthly meetings.
