wow, great job, Laura, and Mazel tov to you and Scott on your wedding anniversary! I enjoyed this peace very much, as it emphasizes how loving and sensitive G-d is to us...and, therefore, we should be happy with who we are, because G-d made us this way.Yasher koach.

Laura -good job realize this hidden message
Unlike a secular census, this census counted not numbers but NAMES. A parent gives a name through devine inspiration which
embodies the potential greatness of the child. Hence by counting the names we show the importance and potential of each and every Jew.

Laura's d'var was clear, concise, and to the point. What I like specifically, is that she relates the lessons of the parasha to our own lives, and how we can better ourselves, and thereby better the world! Laura should be well and continue to enlighten us with her analysis of Torah. And, Mazal Tov to the Danoffs on Yael's engagement to Mordecai!! All the best!!

Rabbi Wolf loved to reach out to families who were Jewish minded but less observant and he tried to influence these families to have kosher homes, send their chldren to the North Shore Hebrew Academy, attend shabbos services etc.

Let us take one family he influenced. I know the family well and the story illustrates one example of the effect Rabbi Wolf had while serving as Rabbi in Great Neck

The family, let us call them the Cohen family (not their real name) was not shomer shabbos but Rabbi Wolf convinced the family to send their three children to North Shore Hebrew Academy.

All the Cohen's became observant because of their association with Great Neck Synagogue and involement with N.S.H.A. .

Their three shomer shabbos children eventually married and produced seven children. All seven children were observant.

Within only three generations, twelve people of the Cohen family became shomer shabbos because of Rabbi Wolf.

Rabbi Wolf influenced more than a hundred familes. Who knows how many? There are probably a few thousand Jews today whose strong Jewish observance is a product of Rabbi Wolf's outreach.

And this is only one legacy of this giant of a man. How about the fact he started North Shore Hebrew Academy and actually drove the bus to bring children to school.

Thank you so much Dr. Gersten. You explain so well how Hashem shows us in the Torah how we must heighten our sensitivity and appreciation to all Jews. I love the example of the wood from the grape tree and from the olive tree must be held as precious because of what they yield.
I remember so well how much I enjoyed and learned when you led and taught the Beginner's Minyan on Shabbus.
