Pass it Forward

September 21, 2010

The Pass it Forward Committee would like to thank all of its participants this year for enabling us to provide an unprecedented 1000 plus Rosh Hashanah meals to Jewish families who would otherwise not been able to celebrate with a Yom Tov meal.

Special thanks to this years committee members:Felicia Morris , Susan Mandelbaum and Celia Lemonick .

Thanks to the boys in the Beit Midrash who once again provided challah, apples, honey, grape juice, dates and flowers to each recipient.

As for the hundreds of people both in our Shul and members of the Great Neck community who purchased meals through GNGlatt and Mazurs, and those of you who cooked for us enabling another family to enjoy a home cooked meal, may you each enjoy your Yom Tov meal with the knowledge that you have given the highest level of tzedakah, and enabled another family to properly celebrate Rosh Hashanah.

The Committee would like to give a special thank you to Everfresh, Mazurs and Great Neck Glatt who generously provided whatever assistance was requested at the height of their busy season; and a very special thank you to Whole Foods, which for the first time, generously participated in our program.

The monetary donations enabled us to fill in the gaps and provide extras for our recipients…the generosity of our members is incredible!!

And a final personal thank you to the children of our community that made New Year Cards and visited with the elderly while assisting in the delivery of meals. Kol hakavod to  all of our volunteers, adults,

children and high school students,  who worked tirelessly and  without a break, giving a new meaning to ”Labor Day” …and finally to our delivery volunteers, who joyfully showed up at my door to deliver despite holiday traffic, some fringe neighborhoods, exceptionally long routes and  far distances, we could not do it without you.

This project is a true example of Achdus, the entire GN Jewish Community participated in this, our 3rd year of Pass it Forward.

Thank you and wishing everyone a Shanna Tova,

Cindy Hodkin, Chair Pass it Forward,

Nechama Liss Levinson and Margery Libin
