Savuot flower sale from Great Neck Synagogue Sisterhood . Two choices available.1. $30 dollar beautiful table centerpiece or 2. $40 dollar beautiful double white orchid. Pick up or delivery for $5 dollars per stop. Pick up Monday May 13th between 11am and 6pm. Orders must be in by Friday May 10th, by 9am, while supplies last. Sisterhood Spring Event: Sunday May 5, 2013

SISTERHOOD EVENT THIS SUNDAY

It’s THIS SUNDAY from 10 AM to 3 PM!!! Our Spring Event featuring an Antiques Roadshow - type event with a well known appraiser from Gramercy Park Appraisers!  It is a minimal cost - $10 for the first item, and $25 for 3 items.

We’ve got such a great boutique arranged - designer, high end glasses, Honestly Me Clothing, Jewelry, Flowers, Tablecloths,  gourmet oils,  you have GOT to come and see this.

And for your shopping pleasure - Zahava Atlas is doing a (pre - k and up) children’s program, so drop the kids off for a crafts project, and shop till you drop!

We’re still looking for some volunteers to help sell raffles, tickets for the Appraiser, sell snacks, etc. Please contact me if you can help!

Join us April 10th at 8:00 PM for a * “SPRING AWAKENING:*  * to a leaner, healthier, pain free, & allergy free you”* with Claudine Sarraf-Amirian-LaC m.s.t.o.m, Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Reiki healer and health coach. This interactive workshop will include ancient secrets and modern solutions (including foods, qi gong, herbs, acupuncture and more) to attaining optimum health.

SAVE THE DATE - Our Spring Celebration featuring an “Antiques Roadshow” Appraiser, bazaar, and children’s program on Sunday May 5th! Bring your family heirlooms and see what they are worth! Volunteers are needed.

The Sisterhood is pleased to participate in Lord and Taylor’s semi-annual Shop Smart Do Good event! Coupon books, can be purchased for $5 each. There are three coupons - two 25% one time use coupons, and one 15% all day pass (this pass includes cosmetics and fragrances!!!). You can use all the coupons Fri. Apr. 19th thru Tues. Apr. 23rd. You can buy the items before the 23rd, but they will hold them for until the 23rd, or up to a week later. This is an amazing opportunity to get discounted cosmetics and other items! Remember,Lord and Taylor carries Ahava products and supports Israel!

Sisterhood Upcoming Events

Remember!!! Our very own Great Neck Challah Lady - Sharona Abraham, famous for her Dough - to - Go, and her weekly Challah for Segulah mitzvot, will be giving us another demonstration of Challah baking techniques! Her Challah is delish!!  We all learned so much last year.  Many of you asked for her to come back, and now she promises to show us more braiding techniques, as well as how to make the perfect Challah.
The class will be on Thursday night, Feb 7th, at 7:30 in the Braun Youth Center.
The cost is $18 each - and you will go home with a wonderful challah, and some other Sharona-special goodies! Bring your daughter (age 10 and up please) and enjoy our special price discount ($30), and introduce her to the joy and Mitzvah of baking your own Challah!  Space is limited - the class will be closed at 36 people.  We have only 1 sponsorship left - for $72, Sharona will offer a special blessing over the Challah.  The class can be dedicated (with special mention on the recipe cards) for $360.  Please email me ASAP and send in your check to the GNS office.

Our next Sisterhood meeting will be on Wednesday, Feb 13th, at 7 PM in the Braun Youth Center.  Please come!!!!  We have lots of great things planned, and we are always open to new ideas!

And…. we are planning an Antiques Roadshow event (with other great things, too!) in May, it’ll be great!!  Come to the meeting, hear all about it, and help!

Sisterhood: Tu Be’Shevat”

Fery Sedaghatpour and Cindy Hodkin will be hosting the 2nd annual *TU B’SHEVAT CELEBRATION* at Fery’s house, 26 Birchwood Lane, on Wednesday Jan 23rd, at 10:30 AM,  They will be discussing the 7 fruits that the land of Israel is praised for and their significance and learning with Rabbi Polakoff. This is a wonderful way  to come together, as one community.  They look forward to celebrating with you! Please contact the Shul office if you can attend.

We will have a short meeting, open to everyone, on Wednesday,Dec. 5th from 7- 7:30 PM to discuss the dinner plans in the Braun Youth Center. Please come! We need volunteers to help set up, collect raffles, and at the event, sell raffles, and distribute the gifts!

Our Sisterhood Dinner will be held on December 18th, 6 pm at Colbeh. Our speaker, Rachelle Weisberger, author of Biblical Beauty will give a great talk on seamlessly integrating biblical, historical and cultural perspectives with practical advice and specific tips on a variety of  subjects, and will offer enlightening guidance on skin care, sun care, makeup, hair care, fragrance, jewelry, healthy aging, motherhood and leadership. Please send in your reservations ASAP. Sponsorships are available - Gold for $72, Silver for $36 and Bronze for $18. We have some great raffle prizes to offer as well as an amazing goody bag to all attendees.

GNS GIFT CARDS SALE

Dear Members,

We are excited to tell you about one of our fund-raising efforts.

We have teamed up with Gift Cards For Good http://4gd.us/gnsgc to offer you a “one stop” gift cards purchase opportunity. Each purchase you make will allow the GNS Sisterhood to raise needed funds for our Synagogue.

We are asking everyone to purchase Gift-Cards for their own use, as well as, gift giving. The Gift-Cards are a convenient way to purchase gifts for the holidays, office personnel, teachers, birthdays etc. as well as your own daily purchases.

Please fill out the enclosed form, with your checks made out to   GNS Sisterhood, and either drop it off at GNS office or mail it to:

Sisterhood Updates

Next Wednesday, Nov 14th we will, b”h will have our November Sisterhood meeting, at 7 PM in the Baun Youth Center. We will be discussing the new date for our dinner, our Chanukah Bazaar, and other events. And…. our Simply Outstanding Solution (hint hint) the next household hint will be revealed!!  Drop off the kids at Pizza/Parsha and come on over!

On Monday, November 26th the Sisterhood and the Men’s Club are co-sponsoring a speaker, Barry Fox, a College Financial Aid Consultant will be speaking about financial aid and grants available to college students. This is a lecture I am sure many of us will find useful.

Our Chanukah bazaar is on track for Wednesday night, Nov 28th from 5-9 PM.  I have many interesting vendors lined up - Furs, jewelry, women’s and children’s clothing, tablecloths, handbags, and much more will be sold. Please mark your calendars and come support the sisterhood at this important event.
