Sun, June 2, 7:00PM: Author Frieda Korobkin, who was sent as a child by her parents in the “Kindertransport” from Austria to England just before WWII, will speak of her experiences and her book, “Throw Your Feet Over Your Shoulders”.

June 12 & 13 Wed. & Thur., Defensive Driving Course: Reduce your auto insurance premiums by taking the Defensive Driving course, which will be held over two evenings from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Limited seating. Please call the shul office for reservations.

On Mon., Nov. 26, 2012 at 7:30 PM, Barry Fox, a College Financial Aid Consultant, will be speaking on “Financial Aid and Grants available to College Students”.

Wed. Dec. 5 at 7:30 PM: Dr. Mildred Pollner, president of Cinema Verite International, will present a 30 minute documentary which she directed, Brave Children of Israel, and will speak on Global Jihad. Dr. Pollner is an accomplished filmmaker, former professor at Columbia University and has lectured worldwide. The documentary has been acclaimed at film festivals in Europe and Israel.

GNS MENS CLUB UPCOMING EVENTS

SUN. SEPT. 23 10:00 am: Joseph A Levy speaking on “Jews from Arab Countries”, highlighting Jewish history in Arab lands. Mr. Levy was born in Egypt and is a well known expert on the topic.

WED. OCT 24: Co-sponsored with the GNS Sisterhood, a talk by Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg of Detroit, on “Stress Management for Adults”. Rabbi Goldberg tours the country lecturing on the subject. He is also a co-founder of the “Kids Kicking Cancer” program.

SUN. OCT 28: The Mens Club semi-annual Blood Drive. Thanks to Al Liederman for organizing the Blood Drives.

Sun. Nov 4: Together with Dos Yiddish Vort, a bus trip to NYC to the Yiddish Theatre to see “The Golden Land”, a professional musical in both English and Yiddish. A light dinner will be provided after the performance. Cost is $65 per person (includes bus, theater and dinner). Checks to GNS Mens Club.

You came to hear Congressman Steve Israel

On Wednesday, August 8, at 8:00 pm

The Great Neck Synagogue Men’s Club

is pleased to host Lt. Col. Stephen Labate (R), the candidate

opposing Congressman Steve Israel in the 3rd district (which

includes Great Neck) on August 8, at 8 pm. He will speak on

Israel, the Mid‐East and foreign/defense policy.

Stephen Labate attended St. John’s University where he received his

B.A. in Political Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant

in the U.S. Army. Stephen is currently an active member of the

Army Reserve. Having accomplished his mission as an officer in the

United States Army and Army Reserve, Stephen has now set his

sights on serving his country as a member of Congress, representing

New York’s Third Congressional District.

Stephen served as a Force Protection Officer in one of the most

heavily attacked installations in Northern Iraq. In support of

Operation Noble Eagle II, Stephen had the distinct honor to

command the soldiers of the 306th Military Police Battalion for a

year‐long mission.

As a member of the Army Reserve, Stephen has been called to

Active Duty three times since the attacks of 9‐11. His most recent

service was twelve months at the Pentagon as a member of the

Army’s Crisis Action Team, regularly participating in the creation of

high‐level briefings to the Secretary of the Army and the Vice Chief

of Staff of the Army.

Stephen’s civilian experience is in the financial services sector where

he holds a Certified Retirement Counselor designation from the

International Foundation of Retirement Education. Stephen and his

wife, Leticia, reside in Suffolk County with their young twins.

BLOOD DRIVE JUNE 10

Great Neck Synagogue Men’s Club is sponsoring its 58th Semi-Annual Blood Drive, on Sunday, June 10th, from 8:15am-12:45pm.

We ask all adults between16-70 and weigh at least 100 pounds and are in good health to come and donate blood that might save the life of a friend or neighbor.

Even if you are unable to donate, you can still help by volunteering that day or by making phone calls to set up appointments for that day.

Students can earn community service credit as well.

Each donation helps to save three people. What a wonderful Mitzvah!

Please eat and drink plenty of fluids on the day that you donate.

Please  remember that to make a blood donation you need to be in good health, have I.D.,  know your Social Security number, and weigh at least 100 lbs.
