Thank You For Your Blood

April 10, 2013

GNS MEN’S CLUB BLOOD DRIVE THANKS

Sincere thanks to the 63 generous individuals who participated in the GNS Men’s Club Blood Drive this past Sunday. Your collective efforts donated 65 units of blood to benefit the ill and injured of our community. Thank you also to the volunteers who helped run the blood drive, including Daniel Bronheim, Milt Mitzner, Sam Levitt, Mark Friedman, Amanda Heisler, Hilly Milun, Brittney, Brianna, Brayden and Bryce Kohler, and Alexander, Oliver and Sophia Rein. Special thanks also to Dario and his crew.

Blood Drive April 7, 2013

March 19, 2013

Dear Friends,

How often do you get the chance to save a life? And how often

does that chance to save a life not require either (a) attending

years of grueling medical school; (b) taking the firefighters’

exam; or (c) sitting by a swimming pool in the baking sun for

hours on end with a whistle in your mouth?

Well here’s your chance to be a hero and save a life without any

of that kind of effort. It’s the Blood Drive, run by the GNS

Men’s Club, which will be held on the morning of Sunday,

April 7 in the Gym at Great Neck Synagogue. If you haven’t

taken part before, don’t worry, it’s quick, it’s easy, it doesn’t

hurt, and all the technical work is handled by skilled technicians

from the New York Blood Center. Your participation is especially

needed at this time as blood supplies remain at critically

low levels following disruptions from Sandy and other winter

storms.

So, how do you know if you can take part? Well, first you have

to have a pulse. But if you are reading this e-mail then,

congratulations, you have passed that test! There are also some

other simple requirements too, which you can read about, as well

as learning more about the process, at

http://www.nybloodcenter.org/ If you are 16 or 17, you will

need written parental consent on a form that we can provide.

It’s easy to book an appointment. Appointments are available

from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and, while you are welcome simply

to show up on the day, priority will be given to those who have

booked appointments in advance. You can book an appointment

on-line by clicking here:

https://drm.nybloodcenter.org/PublicScheduler/

GroupWelcome.aspx?Group=03872

You can also book an appointment by e-mail to

reind@sullcrom.com or by telephone on 212-558-3035. (When

you do so, please provide a preferred time on any 15 minute

increment).

If you can’t give, but would be willing to help by volunteering to

assist with registration and other tasks for some portion of the

morning, please let us know at the above email or phone

number. Adults, as well as students 12 and over, are welcome to

volunteer and we’re happy to help students get chessed hours.

Finally, as a token of appreciation, everyone who donates or

volunteers will also receive a special gift. The gifts include your

choice of:

– 100% cotton beach towel

– All-in-one USB Flash Drive/Pen/Laser Pointer

– 44-inch umbrella with wood handle

– Embroidered baseball cap.

All participants will also receive a complimentary breakfast, not

to mention the respect and admiration of your friends.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on April 7.
