SISTERHOOD MEETING AND MAHJONG LESSON
Please join us on Wednesday evening, February 15th at 7:00pm for a sisterhood meeting in the Braun Youth Center to discuss and plan upcoming events. Immediately following this meeting at 7:45pm, Nadine Shatzkes will be teaching us how to play mahjong. We hope you can join us!
GNS to host Member of Kenesset Yaakov “Katzela” Katz

Great Neck Synagogue is privileged to host Member of Kenesset Yaakov “Katzela” Katz, who will address the congregation following 4:45pm Mincha. He will share with us a unique perspective on the issues facing the government of Israel during these days.
Born in 1951, MK Katz is a 5th generation Israeli who graduated a Bnei Akiva High School and studied at the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva. He served as a member of an elite commando unit and was almost killed in a battle with Egyptian commandoes during the 1973 Yom Kippur war. He was one of the first 10 families to live in Beit El and established the Arutz Sheva radio station. He currently serves as Chairman of the National Union Alliance.

Sun March 11, 9.30am: The annual Rabbinic Dialogue will be held at Temple Beth El this year. Come and support Rabbi Polakoff.
Wed & Thur June 6 & 7, 7.00 pm: Another Defensive Driving Course will be held at GNS. Participate to reduce any points on your license and save on auto insurance.
Sun June 10, 8.00 am to 1.00 pm: Our semi-annual Blood Drive. Donating blood is a mitzvah which helps save lives.
Sun July 1, 9.00 am: We are going Fishing again. The whole family can join in this enjoyable morning at sea.
Yiddish Vort

Florence Shaffer Memorial Fund

THE SISTERHOOD OF GREAT NECK SYNAGOGUE CARES
The Florence Shaffer Memorial Fund was endowed to provide
financial assistance to young women who would have difficulty
affording a college education or a post high school program. The
scholarship is intended to benefit girls whose families are members of
Great Neck Synagogue and face significant challenges in funding
post-high school studies. This year the Scholarship Committee is planning
to award one scholarship of up to $3,600. The Sisterhood is pleased
to announce that a generous anonymous donor has agreed to
match all donations that are made to the Florence Shaffer
Memorial Fund by February 29, 2012.Please help us show our
community that the Sisterhood of Great Neck Synagogue cares about
our young women. Any contribution to the Florence Shaffer Memorial
Fund would be appreciated so we can take advantage of the generosity
of our matching donor. Please make your checks payable to the
“Sisterhood of Great Neck Synagogue” and make a notation that it
is for the Florence Shaffer Memorial Fund. For further information, please
