Passover Chesed Report
April 3, 2012
Got MATZO? Thanks to the generosity of our community ( with much help from the students & faculty at Central) we donated over 300 lb of matzo plus boxes of food items and Tzedaka to TOMCHEI SHABBOS. How lucky we all are to be part of such a wonderful Kehila! Thanks to the Lunzer Family for chairing this worthy endeavor.
Thanks to Katie & Rabbi Ian Lichter for collecting Chametz that will go to food banks in the area.
Pass it Forward is extremely grateful to those who supported our first Passover Initiative, providing full Pesach Seders, together with seder plates, matzo, gefilte fish, haggadahs, grape juice, tea bags and extra goodies for 50 needy families. Our group tirelessly worked on this first ever program, under extreme time pressures and exigencies of making Pesach for their own families.
Special thanks to Felecia Morris, who once again liased with the Jewish Agencies to help us provide for those in need; to Milt Mitzner and Charlie and Neil Mandelbaum who headed up our delivery program. To our volunteer drivers, thank you! . and a very special thank you to Eddie Mazur, who was so incredibly generous with his time and resources, and allowed us to use the Mazurs facility to assemble and deliver from Mazurs so close to Yom Tov. Another group of 18 needy families also received a delivery of Passover foods, thanks to the GNS Hunger Initiative, including Matzah, grape juice, gefilte fish, soup and macaroons. And matzahs, grape juice and sugar were delivered to a food pantry on the South Shore for families needing these items.
A very special thank you to David Kufeld for all of his help and to Artie Luxenburg who helped underwrite costs of the program.. And a final thank you to the Sepharadic community, who generously donated so much matzo and support.
May we all be Blessed to be freed from bondage this year!
