Haircuts for Lag B’Omer

HAIRCUTS

Those who follow Ashkenazic custom may take a haircut this Friday April 26, in honor of Shabbat. Although normally one would not take a haircut before Lag B’Omer, in a year when Lag B’Omer falls on a Sunday, an exception is made. This applies on Friday only, not Thursday night.

Thank you all for your time, effort and participation to make Rabbi Polakoff’s 25th Shabbat Celebration a success! From Kabbalat Shabbat, the Tish, Shabbat Davening, the Youth Participation, Siyum Mishnayot, Luncheon, Seudat Shilshit and Havdalah it was an incredible Shabbat for everyone.

We thank all of our Chairs, Committee members, Sponsors, Gabbayim, Hosts and all who attended to make this a GNS Shabbat to remember. It was our pleasure to chair this wonderful event in honor of Rabbi Polakoff’s 25th Anniversary. We couldn’t have done it without all of you who helped to spread the word, remind people to sign up, write tributes, send photos, give dvrei torah, and sponsor to make this special Shabbat happen.

It was our pleasure to chair this wonderful event in honor of Rabbi Polakoff. We hope that the warmth and unity felt on this Shabbat will continue to inspire everyone to participate and strengthen our shul for the future.

Tribute to Al Leiderman: Sun. October 28

JOIN US AS WE HONOR BLOODBANK CHAIR AL LEIDERMAN

Next Sunday, October 28, is the semi-annual Men’s Club Blood Drive.

This blood drive has been chaired by Al Leiderman for the past 60 years,

bringing in over 7000 pints of blood and saving over 20,000 lives.

Al will be retiring this year as Chair of the Blood Drive and the entire

congregation is invited to pay tribute to him at a special ceremony in his honor.

The Men’s Club will be sponsoring a brunch beginning at 11:00 am on

Sunday morning and at that brunch Al will be recognized for his

many years of service. We hope you will join us.

Annual Fall Blood Drive: Sun. Oct 28, 2012

GNS ANNUAL FALL BLOOD DRIVE

GNS is sponsoring its Annual Fall Blood Drive on Sunday, Oct. 28th from 8:15am-2:15 pm in the gym. Everyone who is 16 or older and  weighs 110 pounds or more and who feels well and healthy can donate blood and help save the life of a friend or neighbor. If you are unable to donate, you can still help by volunteering the day of the drive or by making phone calls in advance. Donating blood or volunteering to help with calls in advance or on the day is also a great opportunity for your young folks to earn community service credit.

Our goal with this year’s drive is 75 pints donated. Please help save three people with your donation- it’s a wonderful Mitzvah! Please contact Al Leiderman.
